Junior Board of the Friends of the Paragon Carousel

The Junior Board is an exciting initiative designed to engage youth in preserving and promoting the Paragon Carousel while fostering leadership and community involvement.

Mission and Goals
The Junior Board aims to:

• Engage Youth: Inspire individuals aged 11-18 (grades 6-12) to develop leadership skills and actively participate in the carousel’s preservation.

• Educational Development: Teach valuable skills like meeting facilitation through Robert’s Rules of Order, event planning, and fundraising.

• Community Impact: Empower members to create and execute meaningful fundraising events and programs that benefit the carousel.

• Volunteer Opportunities: Provide students with a chance to earn volunteer hours, benefiting their schools and the carousel.

Structure and Membership

• Membership: Comprising 10-20 members selected from local schools, youth organizations, and the community.

• Age Range: Open to youth aged 11-18 or grades 6-12.

• Term: Members serve a one-year term with the option for renewal.

• Meetings: Monthly sessions focus on leadership, event planning, and reporting activities to the Friends of the Paragon Carousel.

Junior Board Responsibilities

1. Leadership Development:

   • Elect officers (President, Vice President, Secretary, etc.).

   • Rotate meeting chair responsibilities to practice leadership.

2. Event and Program Creation:

   • Plan and host fundraising events, such as themed carousel nights.

   • Develop educational programs like carousel history tours for younger children.

3. Community Outreach:

   • Promote events and recruit members from local schools and organizations.

   • Act as ambassadors for the carousel.

4. Volunteer Support:

   • Assist at carousel events to gain hands-on experience in customer service and event management.
